Job Description

The Church Relations Coordinator provides the primary point of contact between the association and the pastors and church leaders in our member churches. This position promotes and works toward engaging our member churches, as well as prospective churches with association activities and acts as a pastor to the pastors, connecting relationally, providing pastoral care, and connecting churches and their leadership with association and Texas Baptist resources.
The Church Relations Coordinator is a non-elect and non-exempt staff position and answers to the Association Council in conjunction with the Personnel Committee for an unspecified period of service.
Daily oversight and supervision of this position will be provided by the Director of Missions, and in his absence, the Association Council.

Job Requirements

  • Bilingual English and Spanish proficiency

  • Able to provide pulpit supply duties or speak to groups in the local church setting or, alternatively, serve as the pastor of one of our local member church congregations.

  • Able to visit churches in a variety of structural types throughout the assigned region of service.

  • Able to provide personal transportation sufficient to cover the assigned service area with an expectation of reimbursement for mileage on personal vehicle usage.

  • Able to sit for long periods of time.

  • Able to lift, carry, and place items weighing up to 35 pounds.

  • Able to perform general office functions.

Job Experience

The Church Relations Coordinator should have a minimum of 3 years ministry experience and be licensed in ministry or ordained as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.


  • Must be an active member of a local Baptist church that is affiliated with the association.

  • Meets the scriptural requirements of a pastor (whether the individual serves as a pastor or not).

  • Communicates the Gospel message clearly and effectively.

  • Must spend regular time in prayer, Bible study, and daily spiritual formation and be actively involved in personal discipleship efforts.

Position Duties:


  • Plans out weekly schedule visits with pastors and church leaders member local churches and prospective churches.

  • Schedules visits according to the planned schedule.

  • Reports as required on the scheduled visits and work accomplished during the reporting period.

  • Connects church pastors and leadership to appropriate association staff in response to situations that are discovered during regular visits.

  • Meets with pastors and church leaders to provide support and encouragement, while effectively promoting active engagement in association activities and communicating the mission of the association.

  • Discovers the needs of each church and facilitates the engagement of association staff to meet these needs.

  • Maintains active involvement in association ministries, administration, and planning.

  • Attend staff meetings and other association meetings as directed by supervisor.

  • Supports the mission, goals, activities, and needs of our local churches through networking and providing information, resources, and training resources.

  • Promotes a healthy and harmonious relationship between our local member churches and the association.

  • Maintain a flexible work schedule as determined by the needs of the association and as required by the supervisor.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of current ministry trends.

  • Organize all work accomplished, meetings planned and completed, and association work into a monthly written report provided to the designated supervisor.

  • Complete all other assigned duties and report on their accomplishment as required.
